Did you miss me ?
I surely did.
It’s been a tough month lately so I decided to take June off to focus on some subjects that I’ve been dying to talk to you about so let’s just do that.

Markets Overview
Getting Punched in the Face
You know when boys are in a group chat you won’t always find the most intellectual conversions. More often than not you will find quite the opposite.
This is what happened two months ago when a bunch of dumb guys (my friends and I) were talking on a Whatsapp group chat.
Long story short on April 21st I agreed to a boxing match between me and a friend of mine on June 14th.
The prep.
My opponent already had 6 months of boxing (that’s why we chose boxing initially) and I didn’t, last time I practiced martial arts was when I got my Karaté black belt 15 years ago.
So I decided to take things very, and I mean very very very seriously.
I went on a full 6 weeks Fight Camp.
I already push my body to its limits with my personal objectives but I was not prepared for this level of intensity by adding boxing to my already intense sports program.
For the first two weeks I thought I could maintain my Gym sessions, my Powerlifting sessions, my Running sessions WHILE adding boxing classes and 15 mins Shadowboxing everyday…
Uh-Oh … 🤕
I broke one my personal rules : Don’t overtrain.
And I faced the consequences.
I hurt my hand (it still hurts two months later). I messed up my sleep. I felt sick once a week for three consecutive weeks.
But I learned a lot !
I went from a total newbie to … a newbie with some basics ?
Don’t get me wrong, becoming a boxer needs waaaaay more than 6 weeks of intense training.
You have to drill moves so many times until you body acts on its own.
That time when pride got me in trouble
I also got punched in the face, in the liver, in the solar plexus a couple of times and this was the best part of this journey.
I was learning at a frightening speed, people were so patient and kind to me.
Most gym members and coaches were really taking their time to teach me good boxing principles and I am deeply grateful for them.
But there was one time in sparring I went against a younger guy (maybe 18y.o) but very experienced in boxing (he already fought in amateur fights) for 4 rounds.
And for four rounds he didn’t spar, at least it felt like he was fighting for a world championship.
I honestly felt powerless for the first time in a long time. I also got a bruised nose for 3 days after this.
But I was proud of myself for facing adversity and still going forward.
This experience showed me the real me and I was at peace knowing that I do what I say I can do.
Fight day
Long story short the fight didn’t happen the way we imagined it.
No venue was arranged by the guys taking care of the organization of the fight.
So we took matters into our hands my friend and I.
And I’m laughing knowing what I’m about to say …
That dumb mf suggested that we fight in an alleyway in front of the Cheikh Khalifa hospital …
… And we did just that.
The fight didn’t go as we both planned but here is a quick recap :
Round 1 : I landed some clean shots, kept him at distance with my jabs and my footwork.
Round 2 : I kept playing the distance game knowing that I have a reach advantage. I ate a right hook to the face, I think it was the only hard punch I got for the whole game. Then I noticed that my opponent started breathing heavily. I landed some right hooks and a cross.
Round 3 : This was the final (serious) round. We started where we left off the previous round, but my opponent couldn’t keep fighting, he was out of cardio.
So we decided to continue a little bit lighter so that we can still fight but I won’t put pressure cardio-wise. Even then it lasted 2 or 3 more rounds. Then we decided to stop things.
Recap
Man … I loved that journey I just went through.
I missed martial arts so much and I’m proud I went through those difficult situation.
I’m a little bit disappointed the match wasn’t well organized but I sleep well knowing I’m the strongest fighter in my friends group 😎.
So many more things happened during this last month but this edition is already too long so why don’t we keep the rest for the next edition ?
Next edition will be helpful for you guys so make sure you read it.
Portfolio Progress :
Next week I might do a recap of the OPCVM investment strategy I’ve been following and honestly it’s not bad for a thing that I started as a segment for this newsletter.
Might consider putting more money 👀
That’s it for today.
