We’re already 3 months in 2025 and I wanted to touch on a subject that has been recommended by a friend of mine : Consistency.
Or more precisely “How to stay disciplined ?”

Finding your Why
Life is not a fairy tale.
There are unfortunately tasks and things that you have to do in order to get what you want in life.
Want money ? Gotta work.
Want to be healthy ? Gotta work out.
Want friends ? Gotta go out and socialize.
The main issue resides in how much you want it.
This is your why.
In order for you to be disciplined at whatever you do in life, your WHY has to make sense and it has to be a catalyst.
Let me give you an example with my own story :
I grew up with old parents, there’s a 50+ year gap between me and my father.
This means I lived with people constantly lacking energy, health and complaining about health.
This is why I developed my “Health” WHY.
I want my body to be a tool for me to live my life to the fullest.
Overcoming the barrier
Ok daba you found your WHY, great. Now you have to start somewhere.
There’s this concept that I’ve been telling friends of mine that I see happening in EVERY aspect of life, it goes like this :
Let’s say you have two friends : Alaa and Simo.
Alaa is a runner and Simo is not.
Simo finds it very hard and impressive from Alaa to be able to run 10Km weekly.
Alaa encourages Simo to try running and stick to a training plan.
Fast forward 1 year, Simo is a marathonian, and no longer perceives 10Km as a hurdle and does 10x the volume per week.
Simo overcame the barrier.
This means that for every discipline in life you will find entry barriers.
For a beginner …
… going to the gym 3x a week seems hard
… walking 10K steps daily seems hard
… launching a company seems hard
But for someone who has done the job and who’s on the other side of the barrier it’s an easy task.
Is it worth it ?
Again, you found your why, you overcame the barrier, is it worth it ?
Sometimes you will try things and not get any improvement and it’s ok.
We’re humans, we’re different, our environment is different.
This means that some things will work for some and some things will work for others.
In my effort to improve my sleep I tried NSDR (Sleep Meditation) and stuck to it for more than 200 days.
It didn’t feel like it was helping me much. So I stopped doing it. I get that it will work better for some people or maybe I was not focused enough during my meditations.
But then I tried other methods to improve my sleep and found out it worked best for me so I stuck with this rather than NSDR.
To put it simple :
Did you try long enough ? Yes. Does it work ? Yes. Keep doing it.
Did you try long enough ? Yes. Does it work ? No. Stop doing it.
Quick Actionnable Tips to stay consistent :
Here’s a list of things I took from Atomic Habits and other stuff that helped me stay disciplined and/or create new habits :
Start small with things that are within your reach (Run 2 mn instead of 10Km)
Track your progress. It can be on an app or a journal or just mentally.
Bad days are the best days. I get it, it’s hard to walk when it’s raining, but trust me you will be proud.
Don’t break streaks. Ramadan is not an excuse to stop going to the gym. Breaking your streaks will only make your journey back harder.
Make it Obvious. Your habit has to be visible, by that I mean that there needs to be a sign in your environment. Want to learn a guitar ? Put a guitar in front of your bed.
Make it Attractive. You have to love what you’re doing. If you're looking forward to doing it, it’ll be easier.
Make it Easy. Get rid of friction, if you want to start dieting but you hate cooking, find a meal prep company (for example).
Make it Satisfying. Again, if you’re rewarded when you do your habits, you’re going to stick to it.
